Erin & Dustin picked a beautiful day for a wedding.

The sun was shining, Erin looked beautiful, and the Snowbirds were flying over.

Dustin is a pilot with the Armed Forces (as are all his groomsmen) and we were able to head down to the Wetaskiwin Air Show for pictures. We were able to get the royal treatment down there on the ground...we had quite a fun time with the planes, as well as a few different locations out and about the City.

We had a blast with you guys, your wedding party was so fun...lots of "firsts" for us...kilts, swords, uniforms, planes...it's going to be tough to beat your wedding ;)

We (Melissa & I) have known Jamie for so long...you see Jamie's family, and our family were "best friend families" growing up...you know one of those families that has a kid the same age as everyone in your family...and not only that, but your parents were best friends with their parents!

Jamie and Melissa used to spend countless hours playing barbies together. We used to spend so much time at each others houses that I'm pretty sure our parents wondered whose was whose ;)

It was an unbelieveable honor to be asked to take pictures on your wedding day Jamie!!! You have no idea how excited and honored Melissa and I were to do this for you.

It is always so fun to spend time with a bride throughout her wedding day...but this was even more special because we got to share it with friends too!

Melissa and I teared up quite a few times throughout the day...it was so incredible to have been a part of your day.

Jamie you are absolutely STUNNING! You were just glowing on your day...the smile never left your face...it was a pleasure!

Lambert, you are such an awesome guy! I'm so glad you found Jamie and swept her off her feet! We also loved your family and thought that your wedding party was the funnest ever!

So of course I had a hard time picking pictures to share (as I always do)...but I wanted to start this post off a little different than normal...

Greg & Becky - Edmonton Wedding Photographer

To say that Greg & Becky's wedding was a "splash" would be an understatement! haha! It was POURING rain on the morning of their wedding. I'm sure I must have had all of my fingers/toes crossed and said a million silent prayers that the rain would stop...but it didn't! It went from pouring rain to light drizzle all day.

Greg and Becky were such troopers and decided that a little rain wouldn't spoil their fun and headed out anyway!!! YEAH!

Melissa became my umbrella holder instead of doing her regular duties as my AMAZING second shooter! Although I may have to rethink that "position" for future rainy days as on more than one occassion I got whacked in the face with the umbrella or the umbrella got tipped leaving me (all down my face and camera) COMPLETELY soaked...that's what sisters are for...right?!

Besides the fact that it rained...it was the most beautiful day EVER! The rain left everything SO umbelieveably green in every picture that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all of them so much! The rain also left natural reflectors (pools of water) everywhere so it was a great day for pictures.

Becky looked SO elegant in her dress and Greg was beaming...they are SO happy and SO in love!

I had So much fun with Meghan and Soren. We drove around and found the "Perfect" locations (We thought they were perfect until Soren leaned against a Wall covered in Cheese!)

I am so Happy they let me Capture these moments, they Made my Job so easy Laughing, Smiling, and Kissing at all the right moments!

This little man was not very cooperative during pictures...he started off with throwing up all his supper all over his Daddy...then he peed...and pooped...and peeded again...and let me not forget to mention that he threw up AGAIN...ha ha!

In between outfit changes, backdrop changes and getting him to fall back asleep little Charles was gold!!! He is just perfect...though I could be slightly biased as he is my newest nephew!!!!

I could have cuddled him and taken pictures of him all day...and almost did...but really, I love you little man!

"Behind the Glam" Wedding Series

Here's something a little different...

EVERY photographer can post the top 5 or top 10 BEAUTIFUL pictures of the bride and groom on their wedding day...but sometimes the other 500 pictures are not so great - thus giving you, the bride, only glimpses of what your pictures will come back looking like.

Admittedly sometimes we (Chicks That Click), do capture some "not so great" images - of course, that happens! However, for the most part we are proud of the images we've captured and excited for you to see them (and let us know what you think).

So this post is the beginning of our "Behind the Glam" Wedding Series, showing a little more detailed look at a wedding. Pictures that don't normally get posted, but we thought added just a bit more fun into the wedding experience.

The first wedding I want to feature is of Jeremy & Rebecca. These pictures were all taken before the ceremony. Melissa and I were booked for the whole day, so these are of the ladies getting ready and hanging out.

Okay I know I'm a little late in posting this...but better late than never ;)

Actually, I had kinda planned to do a late post because yesterday we enjoyed a beautiful spring day and a hay ride as a family. My daughter is horse CRAZY and she was lovin' every minute of it! She wanted to ride up front and watch the horses the whole ride.

All the pictures were taken with my Rebel XTi and kit lens because I couldn't process the thought of how I would go on a horse ride and deal with my kids while taking care of my big baby...aka camera!

I'm posting this a few hours early because I will be away this weekend.
My son is quite the kid...he's always asking questions and telling jokes. He has a very vivid imagination.

His bed is often a car, and for hours you can hear his "tires" (pillows propped against the side of the bed) squealing around the corners. Most days he is an executive, in some large corporation, he wears a tie and jacket and has a clipboard and checks off very important items.

Most of his imagination goes into dreaming up the life of his "pet" Shecky...the turtle...he's stuffed.

Shecky came into our lives a year or more ago and my son adopted him and brought him in with open arms...and a squeaky voice, yes, you see when Shecky is talking (which he does frequently) he has a very high pitched squeaky voice.

Shecky is a staple in almost all of my sons pictures I've realized.

We have found as he gets older (Shecky) that he's not welcome at supper any more because he's way too disruptive and he's all together way too much responsibility for a 5 year old. My son has decided that the best discipline for Shecky is corner time...which means that most days you can find that darn turtle standing in the corner.

What a kid...what a turtle!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I hope you're all feeling a little GREEN today - I know I am, I had a bit of a car incident yesterday (brake failure) which left me looking and feeling a bit green and so it's only fitting!

To celebrate this WONDERFUL holiday I thought I'd share just how wonderful it is!

Not only do people worldwide dress in their...ummm, finest GREEN attire, but people enjoy Irish jokes, food, drinks, etc. Not only do people scour the world over looking for that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and lucky 4 leaf clovers...but my sister Melissa celebrates her birthday today!

Each year, as long as I can remember she was gifted wonderful gifts that would compliment her day of birth, here are just a few examples:

1. PJ's that were green
2. Jogging outfits that were green
3. Beautiful dresses that were green
4. A GREEN bunny backpack
5. Green hairbows
6. Green Socks
7. Green...well, you get the point!

So for her birthday THIS year I will be giving her...drumroll please...NOTHING GREEN! I'm pretty sure she doesn't even like green! ha ha!

I love you sister, you are my friend, you are beautiful (I'm pretty sure you stole all the good looks), you are talented, funny, clever, awesome, someone I love to be with and just generally an amazing person!

The kids have been begging me to do the "glasses pictures" since I saw these glasses in the store the other day! They were in pretty goofy moods which made for some fun times! I just laugh at how the glasses make my son's ears fold over and how there is huge glare from the lights on the massive glasses...no they are not technically perfect, but they were fun!

As a person who loves pictures and photography I would say it is rather important to me to capture the moments in my children's lives...it's right up there with first priority. My children, bless their little hearts haven't seemed to caught the vision.

Keira is my daughter, who I love and think is the cutest thing on the planet, she just turned 3 at the end of January. I always like to have a birthday mini-session with my kids.

So I had gone shopping, bought TONS of new clothes, I bought a new backdrop, some props and made some super cute new hair accessories for her, as well as for the mini-session. Last week I said to Keira, "when can we take your birthday pictures?" to which she replies "Next Tuesday!"

I laughed and thought in my head...do you even know when Tuesday is?

So on Tuesday, I get all set up, get the lighting just right, set up the backdrop, props, do her hair, get her dressed, etc.

She sits down...and then gets down on the floor and lays there with her stuffed dog Judy until I was...ummm...lets say DONE! Needless to say, we put everything away, and well, we'll try again another day.

Any tips (for any photographers who read this) for photographing your own children??? I've bribed, I've begged, I've PLEADED...they do not like their pictures taken...maybe it's the constant camera in their face?!

Maybe she meant NEXT Tuesday ?! ;)

In other news - I got a delivery a couple weeks ago and had to share with you... I have used it on several shoots now and love, LOVE, L-O-V-E my new Shootsac by Jessica Claire!!!! LOVE! My Brother-in-law convocated from the University of Alberta and we were able to get some pictures - Congratulations to Doug and good luck with the next part of your studies!

We were also able to get a few pictures of Doug & his lovely wife Karen while we were at it, I'm so excited, they are expecting their first baby in April and I can't wait to take pictures of their little bundle!

FUN - Edmonton Family Photographer

I was updating my website the other day (check it out it's updated :) and I found these pictures...I can't believe I never posted them!!!! I loved this session, I love this family and I feel so bad I didn't post these!

Melissa had the opportunity to do this shoot...her exact words were (when I asked her how it went) said while giggling "SO FUN!"

We first worked with Leslie at her wedding (click here) and loved every minute of it! She contacted us after the fact and asked if her and her siblings could do a session for their parents wedding anniversary, as a surprise (this is why I never posted...I had kept it a secret - a VERY good secret).

Anyway, months later I'd like to share this session with you, because it's so FUN! It reminds me of the fun my siblings and I have together!

Grandkids - Wetaskiwin Photographer

My Mom has 5 Grandkids and LOVES them to pieces. My children are the two oldest of the group. I wanted to do something really awesome with the kids and surprise my Mom with a photoshoot. My IDEA was awesome...the outfits FABULOUS...the actual outcome...not so much :)

We dressed up all the children in their Christmas outfits from Nana, combed hair, washed faces, wiped noses, combed hair again...wiped noses again and set them all on my Grandmother's sofa.

It took All the parents, my Grandparents and a few extra set of hands to get them to STAY on the couch...wipe noses...create smiles and get looking in the same direction...any direction really.

I didn't really think it would be over the top hard...as I've photographed more children than that before...but then I remembered that there were parents in those pictures to keep them still.

Long story short...all the children are snot free...looking in the same direction (even though it's not in the direction of the camera), and relatively happy looking...sooo I was happy!

Best of all, Nana LOVES it and it's hanging in all it's glory as a 20x30 in my Mother's livingroom.

I of course look at it and see all the things I could have changed...but in the moment I didn't think about (as I was trying to keep Lincoln from crawling off the sofa)...like the angle...why I didn't take it from 2 feet higher...my children's feet wouldn't look so huge...oh well!

Brenda & John had their session at the Muttart Conservatory in Edmonton, Alberta. It is quite a beautiful place and really quite a nice place for pictures, as the natural light just comes streaming in. It was a beautiful sunny day INSIDE! Here's a little look at their session.

One of my favorite things is to see which picture my clients are going to enlarge... I love to see which one is going to be the feature...I'm always pleasantly surprised when my favorite ends up as a 16 x 20 or bigger - Brenda totally did that! I hope you enjoy your pictures!

I had to take a break from editing to post a bit of winter cheer!

Winter in Alberta...what can I say! SNOW, SNOW, COLD, and this week...Huge Snow Flakes and Hoar Frost!!!! I might have a slight addiction to photographing hoar frost...which I guess is good, because unless I move...pretty much...that's it outside these days :)

Most Photographers have a wish list...I do...it's long...I try to make the most of what I have and work on skills and learn new things...but I've wanted a Macro Lens for YEARS!

I was a bit impulsive this boxing week and went to my favorite store and bought one (with my Hubby's approval of course :).

I am now the proud owner of a Canon EF 100mm F2.8 IS USM Macro Lens! LOVE IT!!!!

I find myself looking for anything small with detail to photograph...I can't wait for my next wedding to do the ring detail shots...as well as a baby session...and SUMMER!!! GLORIOUS!!!

It's been a while since I've done maternity pictures, I had SO MUCH FUN! Jeanette looked amazing and was up for anything! We had some fun trying new things and playing with different poses!

Winter Wonderland

We definitely enjoyed ourselves this Christmas!

We stayed up late, late every night playing some new fun games with the family. We more than enjoyed our fair share of spinnach dip, surprise spread & other such delights!

My hubby snapped this shot of us and Melissa and I totally weren't expecting it, and low and behold, when I uploaded Christmas I was pleasantly surprised with it...after all I am a girl and don't like pictures of myself.

So here is a picture of Melissa and I enjoying Christmas...most likely the surprise spread (click on "surprise spread" for the recipe) at the time...much of the time :)

For Christmas I wanted to share with all of my wonderful clients and blog fans a few of my favorite things!

I LOVE Christmas decorations! I put my tree up and decorate December 1 and could leave it up forever! It makes my house feel so homey and I love it!

I love being home for Christmas and I love spending time with family!

I love winter scenes...but looking at them from the warmth of my house...not a fan of the cold!

Let's talk Products!

Today I'd like to share a few images of a canvas print! They are a personal favorite of mine!

This particular print is a 16 x 20 gallery wrapped canvas with 2" sides. The finish on this one (I always recommend getting this finish) is like a metalic/glittery finish, and when you look at it in the sunlight it's amazing, it catches all the blues and greens and reds!

The thing about canvases is that you can hang them up just the way they come or you can get them custom framed to add an amazing look to your photo!

My prices for 2" Gallery Wrap canvases with metalic finish are as follows:

Christmas Rush

It's that time of year - CRAZY for me, but awesome too! My house (due to construction) is quite a nightmare (as those who came for studio sessions can agree)...but I must admit we're getting used to the couches in the kitchen this week!

I appreciate your patience as I am getting all the sessions up on the online galleries. I have to let you all know that I do not have time to post every session, I apologize...but I'm sure you'd rather see the entire session on your gallery?!

Last Saturday was the Hagen Family Benefit, which was a HUGE success...over $26,000.00 was raised for the Hagen Family!

There was a silent auction (which was amazing), so many people donated! The food was donated by all different organizations and turned out fabulous.

Black Water Crude played (everyone who organized wore their band shirts in support), and they ROCKED the HOUSE!!!

"The Hagen family, long time residents of Breton have a 13 year old daughter with Cerebral Palsy. Due to complications experienced during Chelsea’s birth, she requires a lot of extra equipment for communication and mobility. Due to Chelsea’s growing needs, her parents need to have a van adapted so that Chelsea can remain in her chair while traveling in the car. This will eliminate her parents having to risk injury themselves by lifting their teenage daughter in and out of the vehicle several times a day. Unfortunately no part of the vehicle adaption is able to be funded by any government services. The cost for a van adaption (not including the van) is $26,000. No one starts a family expecting it to be easy; however we usually don’t anticipate having a child with a severe disability. The additional emotional, physical and financial stresses this puts on a family can be devastating. Never being able to experience this unique situation in our own lives, can make it difficult to know how to help. On Saturday October 24th 2009 we are holding a supper with a live band, photobooth and silent auction for the Hagen family to help make their need for a van adaption a reality. We need people in the community to help make this a success. Any way that you can help, big or small is going to bring us closer to our goal."

I've already had a little rant about my wedding pictures (or lack thereof) so I'll spare you all the details again...but when Kyla contacted me and said that things hadn't gone according to plan at her wedding in August, and that she wanted to get pictures done of herself in her wedding attire I was a woman on a mission! She braved the cold (and by cold I mean my fingers could hardly spin the dials and push the buttons) for these...and I HOPE that these are what she wanted.

I'm only posting a few tonight because I'm still working on them...but there will be another post when I'm done!

Just a note about Bridal Sessions - sometimes the day of the wedding can be very stressful! Some brides wear that stress right out there on their beautiful faces...Bridals (before or after the wedding) are a perfect way to capture you and even your man in your formals yet avoid the whole stress and time constraints of the actual wedding day...if you are interested in Bridals please drop us a line!

This family has the nicest piece of property in this County I'm convinced!! What a view! It turned out to be a beautiful day for pictures! I have to say though that their little one did not like me or my assistant (with her bag of tricks)...the only people to get smiles were his Mom (of course) and his Grandma and then it was all serious for me!

Rebecca and I had many months to discuss the locations for her wedding pictures. We went for drives and wrote down locations...I have to admit that they were the perfect spots...I just wish we would have had a little more time...and a bit nicer weather. Everyone was pretty wind-blown by the end, but it made for some awesome pictures...I love how the sky looks in these pictures - we could have gotten soaked at any minute!

I HAD to post this picture (sorry Rebecca)...you see growing up my brother was the clown when it came to family pictures...someone was getting bunny-eared or a face was being made...or eyes rolled. Rebecca reined him in I have to say because this was the only picture I caught - but it's SOOOO Jeremy!

We were sitting out on the deck the other night and the sun was setting - it was beautiful! Keira was sitting in this perfect spot so I ran and got my camera and snapped a few just in time before the sun went behind the trees. Sometimes you just luck out that way!

I just couldn't wait, I edited these 4 pictures and had to post them ASAP so that you could see them!!!

My sister in law Kathy got married this weekend and not only is she my sister in law, but she's my friend from way back too...she asked me to be in her wedding party (which was an honor) so Melissa got her chance at creating some magic!

I must admit that being in front of the camera at a wedding was a BIG change for me and was a little hard for me to keep my mouth shut...but Melissa did an amazing job and I think that by taking a peek at these pictures you'll agree...believe me you guys there are MANY, MANY more just as fabulous as these!

I hope you're enjoying some sand and sun and I can't wait for you to get back here and see the rest!

So the benefit of having a sister that is a photographer too is this! It's been YEARS since my hubby and I had pictures together...in fact I think the last time was our wedding 7 1/2 years ago...besides family pictures of course. This was so much fun. My sister got me a Mac makeover for my birthday last year and we decided to use it. I had a date, a makeover and a photoshoot - it was a great day! Thanks Melissa!

Melissa and I had a play day again this week and who better to "model" than Mom :) Thank you so much Mom!

I wanted to share this picture from the shoot, because I think my Mother is gorgeous!

I get told on a regular basis that I look so much like my Mom by people that I know...but I get told by strangers that I look so much like my "sister" :) haha...I heard this said the other day and I am pretty sure this applies to my Mom - I strongly believe that my Mother is reverse-aging...doesn't she look fantastic...this mother of 4, Grandmother of 5, wife, friend, wonderful lady?!

These guys said "cheese" over and over again...but not once did they LOOK at the camera. The little girl decided that any touching from her brother was a big no-no during the session and screamed whenever he got close...The boy thought that making "funny faces" was just what the Dr. ordered... Their mother was thinking it was a pointless effort and took to saying "come on guys, if you do one nice one you can have a Fudgical".

I must say, these guys were my toughest clients yet...who are they? My kids! Oh well, I just can't get enough of them and love them to pieces!

- I'm TOTALLY in love with this new color that I have called "soft gold" and thought it was perfect for this session.

My husband and I took the kids down to Drumheller this week for a couple of days. We enjoyed all the sites and had a great time. I took my rebel and kit lens with me...I have a fear of taking my big baby and other lenses when we're out and about as a family...but I got a few shots that I thought I'd share.

A Photographer that I adore from Arizona has been doing "photobooths" at weddings for a while, and I thought it was just the coolest idea, especially for Karin and Stefan! During the dance I set up the studio and had it open for all the wedding guests to come in and dress up and take fun pictures so that Karin and Stefan could remember their guests...these are just a FEW of what you'll be getting :)

I must admit, I've been a terrible blogger lately!!! I hope I redeem myself somewhat with this post though!

I loved this wedding! First I must say that I loved their ceremony...I laughed, I cried - it was great! Blanche was STUNNING and she got married in her bare feet...how awesome is that...my kinda girl!

The highlight of the day was racing around the golf course in the carts with the wedding party and watching out for the golfers...that put smiles on all of our faces and set the fun and casual mood for the evening.

Blanche and Eugene, I loved your day, you guys are so cute and happy and fun together and I hope you enjoy your small tease!

A few from the ceremony...

At this point Eugene checks his pockets and says "where are the rings?" and then proceeds to call their dog, who trots up with the rings tied around the collar...too cute!

I had the chance to practice on my friends baby this past week, it was so much fun to have a newborn! This little man was 10 days old, at first he didn't want to cooperate and go to sleep, but with some coaxing we finally got him snoring.

I have a lot of respect for photographers that specialize in newborns, what an art! I definitely need some more practice, but was grateful for this opportunity! Thank you for lending me your baby for a couple hours Ray and Emily!

When I got married I never spent the money and hired a photographer...yup, that's right, I didn't!!! I had assumed that the person that volunteered would capture all the imagines I had in my head...that didn't happen and I look back and regret the decision.

Sheena was talking to Melissa one day and mentioned her disappointment with her pictures, well one thing led to another and we arranged to do a session for her. When the opportunity to take Sheena's pictures came along I had to do it, I had to do for her what I wish someone would have done for me!
